How I love thee, Ben!

So the highlight of this past week has definately been the LONG weekend and the fact that I had no TAFE for 2 weeks! So stoked about that!!

Thursday night was B.'s birthday dinner which was awesome...aside from the restaurant having what appeared to be a decorative motif on the walls which were like wads and wads of hair in knots. It was kinda creepy!!

Friday was Great Escape...fab fab day aside from the fact I caught a cold. Below is my take on the day that I emailed to a friend.

"Ben was awesome as expected, although I did feel a 'tad' bit old in the crowd of 15-somethings. He played an awesome set - a mix of his old, and new stuff. More the mellow/slow stuff like 'Family Tree' and 'On My Way', finishing with 'Penny on the train track'...very nice!

I heard some of Holly Throsby, she was very packed out. I find her a bit too slow for me...a lot of talking, not too much musical talent. This was my impression when I had heard her stuff before - her live stuff sounds exactly like her 'my space' stuff. I didn't stay to listen to her for too long because Rastawookie were playing. Rather up-beat 'manu chao' cross 'cat empire'. I really liked 'em.

Some bands I liked beforehand, and after listenin' to them consolidated my opinion - 'Waiting for Guiness' and 'Blue King Brown'. Bit of that brass/jazz sound that I love so much!
'Joel Plaskett' a Canadian band was a bit of a surprise for me because I hadn't heard of em before. But they were very good, and I'm on the hunt for a CD. If you like some electronica-rock then 'Deerhoof' were not bad either.

The headliners were as expected great - Hilltop Hoods and Wolfmother :-) "

Sat night was a nice night where we cooked and had a chilled out evenin'. I made crab which was awesome - first time I had to kill the damn things though. All the talk about fish markets at work has made me crave it all week!! Thanks C. for hosting! Also, sorry for the mess I made!

The rest of the weekend I was stuck in bed with a stupid cold :P grrr. Typical it always happens when we have a day off. ..

On another note, my frequent flyer points expire in July...so I have to find a place to go to soon!
At the moment, my points can take me to asia and back (only not Japan!)...I'm thinkin maybe Brunei/Borneo ...anyone got any ideas? Anyone want to come?
